Steven "Steve" Laharne

Steven “Steve” Andrew Laharne, 73, of South Beloit, passed away on November 18, 2023. He was born on January 15, 1950, in Rockford, the son of John and Doris (Keene) Laharne. He served proudly in the United States Army from 1970 – 1972, serving in the Vietnam War. He married Melodee Steele on January 15, 1992, in Rockford. Steve worked as a supervisor for Essex Wires for 28 years.

In his early ears, Steve enjoyed fishing and playing baseball. He’s an avid sports fan, especially watching the New York Giants and the Chicago Cubs. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his dogs.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Melodee; children, Amanda, Jakee, and Sean; grandchildren, Trevion, Tati, Rubin, Jamir, Jamien, Aniya, and DeAngelo; great grandchild, Tianna; nephews, Travis and Chad; and dogs, Bruiser and Oshun. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Doris; sister, Jody; and brother, Mick.
