Steven "Steve" Michael Heck

Steven “Steve” Michael Heck,76, died suddenly at his home Sunday evening, October 6, 2024. Steve was born on August 28, 1948, in Watseka, IL. A graduate of Boylan High School and the University of Illinois, Steve’s career was with Rockford Memorial Hospital as a respiratory therapist. He unselfishly worked the night shift and holidays so others in his department could spend more time with their families. He loved working with the babies the most. 

Steve was predeceased by his mother, Kay Heck, and his father, Robert Heck. He is survived by his sister, Kathe (Heck) Suddendorf (Gary); his niece, Jessi Jansen (Michael) (their children: Madalyn and Dylan) and his nephew, Erich Suddendorf (Stephannie) (their children: Juliette and Xavier). 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at Cathedral of St. Peter Church, 1243 N Church Street, Rockford, IL 61103, with Visitation prior to Mass starting at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery immediately after the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cathedral of St. Peter Church.
