Steven Lowell Brenden, 72, passed away in his Cherry Valley home on April 3, 2020. Steve was born in Eau Claire, WI. to Irving and Grace (Sivertson) Brenden. He graduated from Elk Mound High School and Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL. Steve served 6 years in the Beloit, WI Army National Guard. After working 36 years for Chrysler in Belvidere he retired in 2002. Steve and Barb Bjork eloped to St. Joseph, MI and were married September 16, 1967. Together they raised two sons, Jason and Kevin.
Steve's interests over the years included: camping, boating, traveling, cruising, visiting National Parks, and watching his 2 favorite sports teams, the Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed watching games at many baseball parks across the nation. A highlight trip was to Sweden and then to Norway to attend a Brenden Family reunion on his ancestor's original farm. For over 20 years, Las Vegas was a yearly trip, which inspired Henderson, NV to become a winter home after retirement. In later years, Steve enjoyed being at home, read the daily newspaper and enjoyed the Crypto and Sudoku puzzles. He kept a big vegetable garden for over 40 years.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Barbara Brenden; sons, Jason and Kevin (Tricia) Brenden; Grandchildren, Kolton, Kaycee, Lexie, Jordan & Steven. Brothers, Alan (Carol) Brenden, Ken (Shirley) Brenden, Vernon Brenden, Noel (Jennifer) Brenden; sisters, Cathy (Dennis) Johnson, Carol (Dave) Oas, Nancy (Jody Hoel) Brenden, Sally (Randy) Larson; Sisters-in-law, Linda Brenden, Kathy Brenden and Christine Pennekamp, Ruth (Bryan) Lilly, and Sonja Bjork; nieces and nephews, Jeff, Cheryl, Jodi, David, Nichole, Renee, Janelle, Laura, Lesley, Matthew, Michael, Ryan, Kyle, Katelyn, Tasha, Brooke, Jessica, Seth, Noah, Luke, Zachary, Russell Gabe, and Summer; numerous grandnieces and grandnephews; uncles and aunts, He is predeceased by his parents Irving and Grace Brenden; brother Tom Brenden; Parents-in-law, Clarence and Lois Bjork; Brothers-in-law, William Bjork and Thomas Bjork; Sister-in-law, Arlene Brenden.
As a result of COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of Steve's life will be held at a later date.
