Steven Hooper

Steven R. Hooper, 65 of Cherry Valley died after a long illness on Friday, April 19, 2013 in his home. Born January 3, 1948 in Rockford the son of Russell B. and Elizabeth A. (Bohn) Hooper. Graduated 1966 from East High School and entered in the US Army serving 2 tours in Vietnam. Graduated from Morrison Institute of Technology with an engineering degree. Worked as a Mechanical Engineer and a nuclear bio handler for Com Ed. A member of the American Legion, ABATE and loved old cars and building models. Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth; brother, Alan (Tracy) Hooper; sister, Barbara (Lynn) Heinemann; nephews, Daniel Heinemann and James Anderson and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his father.
A time of remembrance will be Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a visitation from 5-7 p.m. A private inurnment will be held on Friday in Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials to Heartland Hospice 6885 Vista Green Way, Rockford, IL 61107.
