Stephen R. Ostrowski

Stephen R. Ostrowski, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, 74 of Rockford, died suddenly on Sunday January 4, 2015. He was born September 21, 1940 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Stephen and Virginia Ostrowski. He married Patricia Pyzynski on August 11, 1962. He worked at Camcar Textron for 35 years. Steve was a very involved member of St. Stanislaus Church. He was chair or co-chair of the Polish Fest for 23 years, he was a member of the Holy name Society and chairperson of the Finance Committee. Member of Knights of Columbus. Steve was an ombudsman through Catholic Charities, visiting nursing homes. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his time at his cabin in Eagle River, WI he was also a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Survivors include his wife, Pat; son, Steve of Rockford; daughters, Joanne (Richard) Powell of Edgerton, WI and Debbie (fiancé, Kevin Gable) Pearson of Rockton, IL; grandchildren, Sam, Stephanie and John Powell, Brett and Brandon Pearson; brothers, Jerry (Carol) Ostrowski of Carlisle, MA and Jeff (fiancé, Patti Phillips) Ostrowski of Carlsbad, CA. Predeceased by his parents; brother, Richard; stepfather, Louis Robinson and sister-in-law, Dorothy Hubeny.
Funeral Mass at 11am Thursday January 8, in St. Stanislaus Church with Father Dariusz Barna, OFM Conv. Officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 4pm until 7pm Wednesday January 7, 2014 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home 1860 S. Mulford Road with rosary at 7pm. Visitation also from 10am until service time Thursday in the church.
