Stephen N. Geyer, 79, of Rockford, IL. passed away peacefully March 15, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Minneapolis, MN. on December 13, l940 to his loving parents Lynn and Gertrude Geyer. Stephen graduated from Tulsa Central High School in Tulsa, OK. whereupon he entered Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota completing his B.A. Degree in History. His formal education continued with an advanced graduate studies program at Northern Illinois University completing a M.A. and Doctor of Education Degrees. Stephen was a life force abounding with endless intelligence, enthusiasm, humor and person-orientation. He integrated these personnel qualities into several educational teaching positions including high school history teacher and principal of Welch Elementary School in Rockford, IL. With his adventurous, confident demeanor, he became a prominent player in the corporate world creating office solutions and holding prominent positions with the Hayworth, Herman Miller and Steel Case Companies internationally. In 1992 he established the Geyer Company and remained as President until retiring in 2004. Stephen shall be remembered as a kind, loving and generous person by his family whose survivors include: His husband, Ernie; brothers, Mark (Mary) and Lynn (Suzanne); his nieces Lori (Mark) and Anne; his nephews Mark (Alexi), Marc Allen and Jeff; and his great niece Mary and great nephew Jack. Stephen was predeceased by his loving parents Lynn and Gertrude Geyer of Edina, Minnesota. His family would like to share special thanks for the Heartland Hospice Staff for providing excellent care and to brother-in-law Craig T. Sheridan and his wife, Rosie and family for their loving devotion throughout Stephen’s journey. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation remembering Stephen to The American Cancer Society or The National Alzheimer’s Society.
