Stephen M. Duffy, 61, of Rockford, died Friday, January 8, 2010 in his home surrounded by family after a 12 month battle with brain cancer. Born November 22, 1948 in Rockford, IL to Walter and Nell (Bagdon) Duffy. He grew up in Rockford, graduating from Boylan Catholic High School in 1966 and Illinois State University with a bachelors degree in Economics. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1973. Married Delores Greim on September 6, 1969 in Rock Island, IL. They recently celebrated their 40 th anniversary. Employed by Greenlee Textron for many years and then Ipsen International for the last twenty years, until his illness. Stephen will be remembered for his hard work, kindness, generosity and sense of humor, as well as his devotion to family and friends. He had a lifelong interest in horse racing, the Chicago Bears and the Cubs.



He is survived by his wife, Delores, daughter Stacey (Geoff) Wilde of Racine, WI; son Michael (Alicia Pilkinton) Duffy of Loves Park, IL and son, Devin Martin of Rockford, IL; grandchildren Meghan and Brayden Wilde, Jacob Duffy, Lisa and Caitlin Pilkinton; sister, Susan (Jim Lindholm) Schaffrath; sister-in-law, Barbara Greim and brother-in-law, Gerald Greim;; nephews, Evan Schaffrath, Christopher (Amy) Martin, M.D., Jason Martin; niece Heather (Mark) Crites and his much loved dogs, Kelsey and Maya. Predeceased by his parents, grandparentsand his aunt, Margaret Bagdon.



The family would like to thank Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center for the kind and compassionate care given to Stephen and the family.



Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
