Stanley S. Labak, 84, of Rockford, Illinois was called to his final rest from his earthly home surrounded by his family and friends on Monday, April 4, 2022, at 9:24 am. He is finally at peace after a wonderful long life of living, loving and laughing. Stanley (Stas), loved spending time with family and friends and never missed an opportunity to do so. He proudly served God for as many years as can be remembered as an altar boy, CCD teacher, Eucharistic Minister to the homebound and as an usher at Holy Family Catholic Church for 48+ years. He was a dedicated family provider working 30 + years as a General Foreman at Gunite Foundry where he built lifelong relationships and mentored countless friends and colleagues with his family values and iron fisted stellar work ethics. Stanley enjoyed playing cards, bowling, camping, golfing, and game nights. He was born on May 2, 1937, in Chicago, the son of Stanley and Sylvia (Urzendowski) Labak. Stanley joins those previously called to the Lord including the Love of his life Alice T. (Kwiatkowski) Labak, his grandson David, his great grandchildren, and his great-great grandchildren. Stanley married his beloved Alice in Chicago on May 12, 1956. They enjoyed 61 years of often envied marriage. He was the loving and devoted father to Rick (Mr. Wonderful) Labak married to Loni, Rose (B.A.B.B) Phillips, Phil (The Accountant) Labak married to Sharon, Sue (Saint Suzie) Pasillas married to Rafael, Sandy (The Doctor) Labak-Ivanauskas married to Michael, and Laurie (The Princess) Mathisen married to Norman. Grandfather to 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, former member of Saint Matthew’s in Glendale Heights and Good Shepherd in Chicago, Illinois.
Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd, Rockford. A visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, April 11, 2022, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, and again from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
