Sommay Banumas

Sommay Banumas, 61, of Rockford, passed away November 22, 2019 at Swedish American Hospital. Born March 8, 1958 in Luang Prabang, Laos; the son of Chanthy and Khanphiou (Chittavong) Banumas. He married Siammone Phoumavong in August of 1990.
He was a member of the Lao Buddist Temple and the Lao Community.
An avid Chicago Bears fan, Sommay loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Siammone Banumas; daughter, Monemaly (Steven Siackaphome) Banumas Philaphandeth; brother, Chansomephone Banumas; sister, Somchanh Banumas; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service 2 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford. Visitation 12 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
