Shirley R. Walker

Shirley R. Walker, 76, of Rockford, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018. She was born January 16, 1941 in Cisne, IL, the daughter of the late Orville and Nellie (Stratton) Isom. She was a loving wife to Carrol Walker; proud and devoted mother to Terri Walker, Missy (Jeff) Skogsberg and Kip (Beth) Walker; dear grandmother to Megan Skogsberg, Kylie and Austin Walker; dear sister to Charlene (Lloyd) Mason and to the late Carol Tarpley, Junie Griffith, Dean, Paul, Gary and Darrell Isom and loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley married Carrol Walker on August 22, 1959. She worked as the Head of Inventory Returns at Kmart for many years. Shirley was a selfless woman known for her generous and caring nature. She treasured the time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley was very social and loved people; no one was a stranger to Shirley. Above all, Shirley will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Friday, January 5, 2018 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Milestone Inc. or Fairhaven Christian Retirement Home.
