Shirley Jean Richards-Orr

Shirley Jean Richards-Orr, 84, Rockford, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 13, 1934, in South Wayne, WI, the daughter of Clarence and Winifred (Stack) Hanson. Shirley married John “Jack” Richards on November 29, 1952. He passed away in 1987. She married Charles “Chuck” Orr on September 20, 2003. She was a clerk at the Bergner’s store in Rockford for many years. Shirley enjoyed going to the clubs for toddies with friends. She was very artistic and creative. Shirley and Chuck designed and sold many of their creations at craft shows. Shirley also enjoyed spending the winter months in North Fort Myers, FL.
Survived by her husband, Chuck; son, Nick (Becky) Richards of New Milford; daughters, Nancy (Will) Warhurst of Roscoe and Sue Englin of Cartersville, GA; step-daughter, Vicky (Bo) DeLong of Clinton, WI; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lou Murray of Darlington, WI and Sandra (Elton) Olson of Belvidere; brother-in-law, Tom (Diana) Richards of MO; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Steinke and Carol (Bob) Rostermundt, both of New Berlin, WI, many nieces and nephews; special friends, Ronnie and Jeanne Melvin of Fort Myers, FL. Predeceased by her first husband, John, her brother, Steve Staver and her sisters, Joe McCarten and Lovey Davis.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd Rockford. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Monday, December 17, 2018, at the funeral home and from 10:00 A.M. until time of service on Tuesday.
