Shirley E. Drummond, 84, Rockford, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 9, 1939, in Dickeyville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Clifford C. and Ruth (Christian) Gile. Shirley married Grant Drummond on August 8, 1959, in Rockford. She was a member at Holy Family Catholic Church and worked at Bloom Elementary School and Eisenhower Middle School in the cafeteria making lunches for students.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Grant; her children, Steve (Cindy) Drummond of Loves Park, Lisa (Roger) Jones of Rockford, Diane (Harold) Goellner of Poplar Grove, and Mike (Missy) Drummond of Denver, CO; her grandchildren, Sean Rankin, Danielle (Justin) Petzold, Austen (Lindsey) Jones, Connor (Kenzie Feen) Jones, and Jake Drummond; her great-grandchildren, Jonas Petzold, Santi Petzold, and Olivia Jones; her brother, John (Renie) Gile, of Rockford; her sisters, Patricia (Ray Bartz) Bartz of Burlington, WI., and Donna (Larry) Paladino of Rockford; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, and brother Joe Gile.
A funeral Mass will be held on December 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Road, Rockford, IL 61107. A visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. A private burial is to follow.
