Shirley A. France

Shirley A. France, 73, of Rockford, IL passed away January 28, 2021. She was born March 2, 1947 in Beloit, WI the daughter to Wilbur and Dorothea (Scott) Conrad. Shirley attended West High School, graduating in 1966. She married Lawrence France on March 25, 1967 and had two children. They later divorced on August 13, 1998, but remained close friends. Shirley was a strong willed, independent woman. She was a very hard worker and was quite a handy woman. Shirley enjoyed traveling to national parks where she would photograph nature’s beauty. She also enjoyed gardening and dancing. Most of all Shirley loved her family especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survived by her children, Eric (Aletha) France and Heather France; grandchildren, Kasey France and Peyton Fitchie; father of her children, Lawrence France; brother, David Conrad; sister, Marjorie Conrad; sisters-in-law, Lora Abegglen Conrad, Janice Levon Nelson Hartberg Conrad, and Linda Conrad; brother and sister in law, Jim and Joan (France) Owens; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents; fiancé, Roger Supler; brothers, Marvin Conrad and Paul (Sheryl) Conrad; sisters, Audrey Shores and Bonnie Lee.
Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Private Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or National Breast Cancer Foundation.
