Sheila passed peacefully surrounded by love on the morning of Wednesday, August 7th. She was born Tuesday, December 29th, 1942, in England and moved to the US in 1969. Sheila (Mom, Nanny) had a deep love for many things including her family, her cats and her garden. She also loved to dance, laugh until she cried, listen to and sing along with live music, play games, anything that related to animals, birds, the beauty of nature, tea parties, shandies and margaritas. And although running was not one of her passions, she did run a lot and even finished a marathon! As quiet and frail as Sheila became in her later years she was still deep down inside the lively, spunky, sassy, center of attention kind of gal who created an entirely new life in a new country as a young wife and mother years ago. That beautiful life grew over the years into her large circle of loved ones which included her family, and dear friends, both human and furry. She was a member of the Rockford Garden club for which her English garden was featured for many years. Her gorgeous garden was also featured in Country Living Magazine.
She is predeceased by her husband John Whitehouse. Survived by her children, Kelsie (Dan), Carl (Mary) and Justine (John); grandchildren, Amanda, Kylie, Blake, Sydnie, Andrea, Justin, Mallory and Abigail; great grandchildren: Ariel, Bella and Tristen; lots of extended family in England; and many beloved cats throughout her life.
Special thanks to St. Anne's Place Staff for their compassionate care of Mom, it was greatly appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in October, details to be shared. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an animal shelter of your choice in Sheila's name.
