Sheila M. Loughlin

Sheila M. Loughlin, 85, of Rockford, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022.

She was born in Chicago, IL on May 23, 1937, daughter of Michael and Frances Mae (Honeck) Loughlin. Sheila was the family matriarch and she loved nothing more than spending time with her family, particularly the nieces and nephews. There wasn’t a holiday, birthday or special occasion that she didn’t spoil the kids. She was one of the most generous people you would ever meet. She also enjoyed traveling the world and golfing wherever she could. Sheila was an avid golfer in her younger years and even had a hole in one. Throughout her working career, Sheila held many positions in the Health Care Industry, most notably - President of Visiting Nurse Association of Central New York, Inc, Syracuse and then Executive Director of Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Philadelphia. Her sense of humor and many laughs will be missed by all that knew her.

Those left to honor Sheila’s memory include her sister, Rosemary (Dave) Eby, brother, Kevin (Nora) Loughlin, sister, Kim (Dan) Loughlin, Nephews and Nieces, Beth (Chris) Vogelgesang, Kathleen (Tom) Graf, Kevin Loughlin, Jennifer Loughlin, Michael Eby, James (Eun) Eby and many great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Frances Mae Loughlin, brother, John Loughlin, nephews, Jamie Loughlin and Brian Loughlin.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022 with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108.
