Sheila Catherine Hamilton Ramus, born May 6, 1940 Rockford, Illinois to Mary Jane Cannell and Raymond Edward Hamilton, died Rockford May 27, 2015.
Attended St. Mary’s School ’54, Muldoon High School ’58, Rockford, Siena Heights College, Adrian, Michigan, BA Sociology Michigan State University, Lansing, Michigan ’72.
Married Robert Clark Ramus, 1960, lived Alpena, Mount Pleasant, and Adrian, Michigan; associated with Ramus Automotive Company.
Moved to Sacramento, California 1972; involved in political consulting business, then commercial real estate. Moved to Sequim, Washington in the Olympic Peninsula 1983. Owned and operated Juan de Fuca Cottages in Dungeness Bay for twenty-five years. Involved in local and state tourism; President of New Dungeness Light Station Association. Retired to Rockford 2006 where she enjoyed activities at Siena on Brendenwood; visiting and lunching with her many cousins; attending classes, operas, and extensive travelling, most recently through the Panama Canal to Antarctica, up the Amazon, and through the Mediterranean to the Black Sea, then to Egypt, the Holy Land and Rome.
Sheila is survived by three daughters and their children:Carlene Marie Ramus (Robert Ferris) Eugene, Oregon Dr. Catherine Anne Ramus (Dr. Didier Cossin, Clark) Santa Barbara, California and St. Prex, Switzerland Christina Marie Ramus (Brett Regan, Madison, Michael) Dove Canyon, Orange County, California, also by sisters and brother: Anne Rosaire Hamilton, Santa Maria, California, Dr. Mary Jane Hamilton (David Reed), Sacramento, California, Joseph Hamilton (Judy), Vero Beach, Florida; nieces Dr. Carrie Hamilton (Dr. Patrick Lenaghan, Miranda, Ian), Rutherford, New Jersey, and Chris Svab (Jamie, Anna), Naperville, Illinois.
Visitation: Sunday, June 7, 5 to 7 pm, Fitzgerald Funeral Home 1860 S. Mulford Rd, Rockford
Requiem Mass: Monday, June 8, 9:30 am, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 517 Winnebago at Elm St, Rockford; Bishops Doran and McNabb Concelebrating
Burial: Monday, June 8, St. Mary and St. James Cemetery, 917 Auburn St., Rockford
Brunch: Monday, June 8, 11:30 am, Cliffbreakers, 700 W. Riverside Blvd, Rockford
