Sharryn L. Proudfoot

Sharryn L. Proudfoot, 84, Rockford, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021, in her home. She was born March 24, 1937, in Rockford, the daughter of Robert E. and Hellen J. (Widmer) Roach. She was a graduate of Rockford East High School, class of 1955, and then graduated from St. Anthony School of Nursing in 1958. She married Patrick D. Proudfoot in Rockford at St. Patrick Catholic Church on May 5, 1962. He passed away in Rockford on June 2, 2014. Sharryn worked as a nurse at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center for 4 years and then at Rockford Clinic for 30 years and most recently worked for Dr. Maria Al-Basha for 14 years until her retirement in 2010. Sharryn was known for sharing her nursing skills with her neighbors and other friends and family. Always ready and willing to take care of others. She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, a member of Our Ladies of St. Bernadette and active in many other church ministries. She and Pat spent many Mississippi River weekends on their houseboat the “Sharryn Lee” with their Frentress Marina crew. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Survived by her daughter, Laura (Jim) Marner; her son, Robert (Michelle) Proudfoot; her grandchildren, Patrick (Katie) and Andrew Marner, Bethanne (Patrick) Riofredo, Shelbie and Daniel Proudfoot; her great grandchildren, James, Liam and Audrey Marner, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Rockford Rescue Mission, 715 W.
