Roscoe- Sharon A. Buffo, 64, beloved wife of Maurice J. Buffo for 43 years, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Swedish American Hospital. Born May 6, 1945, in Rockford, daughter of Henry and Lillian (Cicero) Sassali. Graduate of Bishop Muldoon High School and Altamore School of cosmetology. Sharon and Maurice were married on April 2, 1966 in Rockford at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. A member of St. Bridget Catholic Church where she devoted her time at the grade school as a volunteer. She also worked for Loves Park Water Dept and was a member of the Roscoe VFW Ladies Auxiliary and took time to crochet for her family. Sharon enjoyed being with her family and she adored her beautiful grandchildren. Survivors include her husband; son, David (Novice) of Overland Park, KS; daughters, Michele (Rod) Kimes of Pecatonica, Anne (Vince) Gulotta of Loves Park and Kimberly (Dan) Block of Rockton; grandchildren, Brianna, Ben, Alex, Nick, Madison, Dominic, Drake and Makenzie; sisters, Joyce Brockway of Roscoe and Janice (Bill) Petri of St. Louis; mother-in-law, Betty Buffo and numerous special friends. Preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Peter Buffo. Funeral mass Monday, July 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave. with Rev. Burt Absalon officiating. Entombment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation Sunday, July 19 from 1-4 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside chapel 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with a rosary service at 4 p.m. Visitation continues on Monday at church from 9-9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
