Shannon L Contreras

Shannon L. Contreras, 60, of Rockford, passed away on January, 17, 2017 in her home. Born May 31, 1956, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Eddie & June (Farr) Boyd. Graduated from Leaf River high school, class of 1974. Later she went on to become an L.P.N., where she worked for Villa of P.A. Peterson (formally P.A. Peterson Center for Health) for 37 years. She had a passion for patient care and was always willing to help people. She married Martin Contreras in Rockford on November 23, 1974. Shannon enjoyed reading, playing slots, but most of all spending time with her family, especially their cookouts and being outside.
She is survived by her loving husband, Martin; children Alicia Contreras, Martin L. Contreras and David Blair; grandchildren Adriana Contreras, Antonio, Alicia and Araceli Meza, brother Tim Boyd; sister Lucinda Bliss and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in her name.
