Scott Stanis was born in Rockford to Nancy and DuWayne Stanis on October 2,1961. Scott passed away peacefully from cancer at OSF - St. Anthony Hospital on January 27, 2022.
As a young boy, he enjoyed going out to construction sites with his Mom,Sister and friends to watch and learn all about heavy equipment. Not surprisingly, Scott pursued his love of heavy equipment as an Equipment Specialist for area construction companies including Fischer Excavation where he met his second family best known as the "Fischers".
Scott was known for his quick wit and sense of humor and knowledge of classic rock music and of course heavy equipment. He made extra efforts to stay in touch with his family and friends, frequently calling from the road during what he called his windshield time to share stories about the jobsite he had just left or the culinary treats he was planning to share with others. In the spirit of his kindness to others and his love for his Dad and Mom, Scott helped raise thousands of dollars and coordinated support services for the Annual Thanksgiving Dinner at Court Street Methodist Church for the past 20 years.
.
As a family, we will miss Scott every day, but are thankful for the many blessings and love he shared with us. Scott is survived by his Mother and Father - DuWayne and Nancy, Son - Jeff, Daugher-in-law - Stephanie, Sister - Stacey Howard, and many other family members in Rockford.
