Scott R. Long, 55, of Machesney Park, Illinois parted this life on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Born to Kenneth and Tresa (Dimmig) Long on December 22, 1966 in Dixon, Illinois. After graduating from Dixon High school, class of 1985, Scott went on to obtain his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Architecture at the University of Illinois. It was there that he met his future wife, Angie. They were married on August 17, 1991 and they raised two beautiful children, Tyler and Hannah. Scott loved owning his own architecture business, spending time with his family, watching sports, and playing with the family dog, Maisy. He was an active member of St. Bridget Catholic Church for over 25 years. He was also an active member for the Cursillo Movement and served as the Lay Director for the Rockford Diocese for 6 years.
He is survived by his wife, Angie; their children Tyler and Hannah; his two brothers Dan (Jaime) Long of Scottsdale, AZ and Russ Long of Chicago, IL; he is also survived by a host of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Tresa as well as his father in law, Ray “Daisy” Held.
A Visitation will take place for Scott on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Avenue, Loves Park, Illinois 61111. Visitation will continue on the following day at the church on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. For those unable to attend, the Funeral Mass will be available by live stream at the following link, https://www.stbridgetlovespark.org/ and click on the "View Live Stream" option. Burial will take place at Scottish Argyle Cemetery in Caledonia, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be established at a later date.
