Sarah Mistretta, 100, of Rockford died with grace at 10:30 p.m., Monday, April 21, 2008, at River Bluff Nursing Home. Born on November 3, 1907, in Independence, Louisiana, the daughter of Carlo and Rose (Gulotta) Pumilia. Sarah married Nick Mistretta in Rockford on October 28, 1928. Nick predeceased her June 8, 1980. Sarah was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church. She is survived by her daughters, Rose Misuraca, Antonette (Roger) Yuccas; son, Lenny (Bev) Mistretta; son-in-law, Elmer Plymale; loving sister, Marie Aaby; grandchildren, Joe Misuraca, Linda (Dave) Kreissler, Chuck (Patty) Misuraca, Jodie (Brad) LaMantia, Dan (Julie) Yuccas, Tom (Eileen Morrissey) Yuccas, Kassey (Steve) DesForges, Nick Mistretta, Laurie (Mike) Doyle; great-grandchildren, Chuckie, Anthony and Jenna Misuraca, Gabriella ""Gaby"" , Nicky, and Gracie Kreissler, Christyna and Peter LaMantia, Stacey and Paul Yuccas, Stephanie Ingram, Aly Yuccas, Alexandra ""Alex"" and Chloe Doyle; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Nick; parents; daughter, Jennie Plymale; sisters, Rose Cotone, Margaret Maggio, Lena Lapuma, and Mary Mangiaracina; brothers, Joe, Anthony, Peter and Alec Pumilia. Special thank-you to the supportive staff at River Bluff Nursing Home and to Joe and Kassey for their time spent with nana. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, April 24, 2008, in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1010 Ferguson Street, Rockford, with the Franciscan Friars officiating. Visitation from 9A.M. until time of service. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to River Bluff Nursing Home Auxiliary.
