Sara Jane Samaniego

Sara Jane Samaniego, 71 of Rockford, IL passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018 at home with loving family by her side.

Sara was born in Rector, Arkansas on August 19, 1946, daughter of Cecil and Connie (Dowdy) O’Bryan. Her family moved to Rockford in 1953. She married the love of her life, Jose Samaniego, on November 14, 1964 in Rockford, IL. Together they shared a beautiful life with 3 children, Tammy (Noel) Lyons of Loves Park, Thomas (Anita) Samaniego of Newport, Arkansas and Mike (Elise Trudo) Samaniego of Belvidere. She had seven grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Sara was a dedicated wife and mother as well as a good friend to many. She always had a special way of making everyone feel loved. Always making time to listen and give advice, asking for nothing in return. She was most happy when spending time with her family. Sara will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She is predeceased by her parents; 3 brothers; 2 sisters and one great-granddaughter. The family would like to thank Mercyhealth Visiting Nurses Association Hospice for the care they provided, especially Tiffany and Dasheka.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening; August 2, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Silver Hill Pentecostal Church, 4401 20th Street, Rockford, IL 61109. The funeral service will take place on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Cremation rites will take place following the services to honor Sara’s wishes.
