Sara J. Moser, 72, Rockford, died Thursday, January 21, 2010, at home. Born October 27, 1937, in Rockford, the daughter of Joseph and Marjorie (Pell) Cummings. She married Charles W. "Charlie" Moser on June 4, 1960, in Rockford. Sara attended Ellis School and Roosevelt School and was a 1955 graduate of Rockford West High School. She earned her BA in Education in 1959, from Illinois State University where she was Solitarian. She taught Drama and English in Marengo, then Hamilton Junior High School and later taught English at Wilson Middle School, where she was instrumental in starting the G.I.T. Program. Sara then worked for Blanche Martin in the Regional Board of Education. She received her Masters Degree and her Type 75 certificate from Xavier University. She taught at West Middle School and then taught Masters classes at Xavier University before retiring in 1994, after 35 years in education. She was a recipient of the Golden Apple Award and Teacher of the Year. The loves of her life were her grandchildren, Brock and twins, Josh and Cameron. Survived by her husband, Charlie; daughters, Michelle Moser of Rockford and Elizabeth (Thomas) Johnston of Roscoe; grandchildren, Brock Johnston and twins, Cameron and Josh Johnston; sister, Patricia (Charles) Webster of Rockford; nephew, Dirk Webster, niece, Heidi Webster and grand nephew, Donovan. Predeceased by her parents.Funeral services will be at 1pm, Sunday, January 24, 2010, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, Il 61108 with Rev. Donald Long officiating. Sara donated her body for scientific study. She will be buried at Arlington Memorial Park at a later date.
