Sandra Kathleen Norgart

Sandra "Sandy" Kathleen Norgart, 81, of Rockford, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 14, 2024. 

Sandy was born on February 22, 1943, daughter of Donald and Darleen (Sowl) Simonds. She graduated from Beloit High School, Class of 1961. Sandy then went on to complete the dental hygienist program in Milwaukee, WI. She married James Lee Norgart on February 4, 1993, in Beloit, WI. 

Sandy was a proud member of the Rockford Ski Club for many years and enjoyed many skiing trips with family to Colorado as well as Switzerland and Norway. She had a strong passion for the outdoors and gardening. Sandy was not afraid to get dirty as she worked hard to take exceptional care of her yard and her flowers. She also enjoyed keeping busy with her coloring books and was an avid book reader. Most of all, Sandy cherished the time spent with her family and loved ones, including her special family dog, Connor, whom she loved dearly. Sandy will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Jim Norgart; mother, Darleen Simonds; stepdaughters, Tracy (Bill) Ady, Jaynee (Mike) Schissel and Erin Norgart; 4 step-granddaughters, 2 great-step-granddaughters and her brother, Gary Simonds. Sandy is predeceased by her father, Donald Simonds; son, Steve Shosie; stepson, Brian Norgart and her favorite aunt, Pauline. 

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108, with a memorial visitation from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sandy’s name to the Gastric Cancer Foundation
