Sandra K. Ozburn

Sandra K. Ozburn, age 74, of Rockford died Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in the Wesley Willows Health Center after a long struggle with Parkinson Disease and Dementia.
Sandy was born March 31, 1943 in Freeport, IL the daughter of Robert and Phyllis (Rees) Bowen. She married Donald G. Ozburn on June 23, 1972.
Sandy graduated from Freeport High School. She raised three children and had part time employment with Cullen Research Group, Rockford Auto Auction and Westlake Golf Course. Sandy was a past member of Junior League of Rockford and Rockford Women’s Club, Mabel G. Stewart and Pat Brown departments. She was very involved in the PTO at Vandercook School and Jefferson High School. Sandy was the ultimate organizer of book clubs, card groups and various neighborhood social events.
Sandy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her grandchildren, nieces and nephews and watching them in many school and sporting events. Sandy and Don enjoyed their many years of travel and vacations in their motor home, cruises and vacations in Europe. She loved to read books and magazines until the last few years when her health deteriorated.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Don of Rockford, one daughter Susan Campbell of Rockford, IL and one son Michael (Mary Hadley) of Lookout Mountain, TN, eight grandchildren: Kirstin (Tim) Willnow, Britta Engels, Henry Campbell, Lucy Campbell, William Ozburn, MaryBlythe Ozburn, Robert Ozburn and Elizabeth Ozburn and four great-grandchildren. Also survived by brothers Ted (Mary) Bowen, Tom (Beth) Bowen, Brian Bowen, Scott (Liz) Bowen and sister Beth Ann Bowen. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents and son, Todd. The family wishes to thank the staff at Wesley Willows Health Center and Northern Illinois Hospice for their loving care.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2017, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N. Rockton Av, Rockford, IL 61103. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life luncheon will follow the service at Wesley Willows Arbor, 4141 Rockton Av., Rockford, IL 61103. Cremation rites were accorded. Private interment for the family at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Freeport, IL at a later date.
