Sally Jo Fehrle, 86, of Belvidere was welcomed into the Lord’s arms on Monday, July 8, 2024. She was born on March 20, 1938, to Alvin and Lucy Leola (Buss) Ploeger. She graduated from Stockton High School in 1956, and Illinois State University in 1960, with a degree in Special Education-Visual Impairments Program. She was the first teacher in Rockford to teach Braille at Summerdale School. Sally married the love of her life, Raymond Fehrle, on August 18, 1962. He predeceased her on May 1, 1991. Sally’s greatest joys were her husband, children and grandchildren. She was an avid supporter of her family and was always present and encouraging them in their interests. She was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Belvidere participating in various activities including playing in the hand bell choir. She was known for her spunk and sense of humor. Throughout the years Sally thoroughly enjoyed gardening, traveling with her siblings, being part of many card clubs, sharing her famous cookies and caramel corn, playing games with her grandchildren, lending a helping hand, embracing a special bond with her sister, Jane, nurturing lifelong friendships and ultimately spending time with her honey, Raymond.
Sally is survived by her children, David (Mary) Fehrle, Beth (Armour) Peterson and Lynn (Mike) Nauta; her grandchildren, Joseph, Samuel, Meredith and Nicolas Fehrle, Britta, Ben (Abby) and Annika Peterson, Jack and Charles Daguanno and Flynn Nauta; her brothers, Gerald (Erlys) Ploeger and James Ploeger; her brother-in-law, Roger Julius and her sister-in-law, Aleta Lawfer; her many nieces and nephew. Predeceased by her husband, Raymond, her parents, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Martha and Albert Fehrle, her dear sister, Jane Julius, her sister-in-law, Jeryl Ploeger, her brothers-in-law, Charles Fehrle and Donald Lawfer, her niece, Allison Ploeger and her nephew, Arthur Ploeger and her grandson, Tyler Nauta.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, 1300 Pearl St., Belvidere, with Reverend Elizabeth Martin officiating. A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford and again from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Monday at the church.
