Sally Ann Chanonhouse

Sally Ann (Johnston) Chanonhouse, age 67, passed away on November 16, 2021 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, IL. She was born on October 9, 1954 in Winchester, MA, and was the youngest daughter of Howard and Ruth (Mathieson) Johnston of Reading, MA.

Sally attended Reading High School Class of 1972, the Newman School in Boston, MA and Fazio’s Beauty School in Lowell, MA. She then went on to have a long career as a beautician. Sally was a long-time Reading resident before residing to Rockford, IL. She was a member of St. Agnes Church in Reading. Sally was also a strong supporter of the VFW, had a passion to support our veterans and was very active with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Program. She enjoyed raising money for Jerry Lewis’ Telethons, which earned she and her sister Patricia, the Honor Award from the Crystal Community Club for Women of the Year. Sally was fun and adventurous and provided a lot of humor, compassion and love not just to her family and many friends, but to all people around her. She loved listening to music, especially Motown and of course the song “Mustang Sally” was one of her favorites!

She is preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Chanonhouse; sisters, Patricia Ouellette and Bonny Face.

Sally is survived by her long-time partner, Randy Cook of Rockford, IL, her sister and brother-in-law, Judith (Johnston) and Robert Mason of North Reading, MA, brother-in-law, John Face of Reading, MA; nieces, nephews and spouses, Pamela and Thomas Benedetto of Wakefield, MA, Kimberly and Robert Bergeron of Woburn, MA, Kathy and James DePaolo of Middleton, MA, and Robert and Denise Mason of Newtown, CT; great nieces, nephews and spouses, James Brown, Andrew Brown, Nick Face, Jamie and Jack Marraffa, Michael DePaolo, Jennifer DePaolo, Zach Face, Maxwell Bergeron, Ben Mason, Daniel Mason, and one great-great niece, Alana Marraffa.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Athanasius Parish, 300 Haverhill Street, Reading, MA. A burial will follow at Charles Lawn Cemetery, 162 Charles Street Reading, MA.
