Ryan “Hos” Timothy Hoskinson, 41, of Rockford, IL passed away Friday, May 10, 2019. He was born July 17, 1977 in Rockford, the son of Timothy E. and Nella (Berkholtz) Hoskinson. Ryan graduated from Boylan Catholic High School, class of 1995. While at Boylan, Ryan played football as a defensive end. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Sports Science with an emphasis in recreational management and a minor in business from Carthage College. Ryan played middle linebacker while at Carthage. He went on to play semi-pro football for the Belvidere Rush as a linebacker, 2003-2005. Ryan tried out for the XFL league, Chicago Rush, Canadian Football League and the NFL. Ryan was the defensive coordinator for the Rockford Lions in 2002. He was a Hall of Fame recipient while playing with the Belvidere Rush and an ACE (Attitude, Character and Enthusiasm) award winner while playing at Carthage. Ryan loved the Florida State Seminoles Football team. He worked as a personal trainer at FitMe Wellness. Ryan truly loved his job and working with people, helping them reach their personal and fitness goals. Ryan never met a stranger and was known for his hugs. He was a member of the Fatherhood Encouragement Project where he impacted every dad he met. He left you encouraged and blessed having met him. He was also a member of the BNI group. Most of all Ryan loved and adored his children and was an amazing father. He will be forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Survived by his beloved mother, Nella (Berkholtz) Hoskinson; Kristel Hoskinson, Harper Lee and Hadley Rose; uncle, Brian Berkholtz of Escanaba, MI; his Boylan, Carthage and Rush brothers and countless friends. Predeceased by his grandfather, Paul Hoskinson of Freeport, IL; grandparents, Adele and James Moses of Escanaba, MI; father, Timothy E. Hoskinson of Freeport, IL and son, Hunter Timothy Hoskinson of Rockford, IL. The family would like to thank the community and friends for the amazing outpouring of love and support.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave, Loves Park, IL 61111. Visitation to be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2019 at St. Bridget Catholic Church and again Saturday from 9:00 until the time of service. Private burial with Ryan being laid to rest with his beloved son Hunter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a cause to be determined.
