Ruth Thompson, 94, Rockford, died at 9:46 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born September 10, 1916 in rural Winnegbago County, daughter of Walter H. and Ida Roberts Franklin. Married Harry B. Thompson on May 11, 1934. Formerly employed by Rockford Screw Products. Member of Chapelwood Community Church. She, along with family members, had also enjoyed being a member of the "Nimble Fingers" group for several years. Ruth was a dedicated homemaker and a wonderful cook whose family always came first. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and sister. Survivors include her daughters, Dorothy "Dot" (Dale) Grover, Rockford, and their children, Daniel (Janie) Grover, Greg (Huene) Grover, Russ (Linda) Grover, Gloria (Bob) Fine, David (Barb) Grover and Mark (Josephina) Grover; Jan Hohm, Rockford, and her children, Cindy (Mark) Earle, Rev. Tim (Ginger) Hohm, Rev. Steve (Linda) Hohm and Terry Hohm; son, Charles "Chuck" (Shirley) Thompson, Stillman Valley and their children, Todd (Patty) Thompson, Troy (Olga) Thompson, Tim (Rachel) Thompson and Ted Thompson; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and her sister, Lois Stuber. Predeceased by her husband, Harry on Decembr 10, 1988, her parents and her sisters, Inez Franklin and Drusella Carlson. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2010 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with Rev. David Petty, Calvary Memorial Church, officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
