Ruth S. Callihan

Ruth S. Callihan, 89, lifelong Rockford resident, died peacefully in her home at 7:55 a.m. Monday, November 22, 2010. Born December 28, 1920, daughter of Julius and Anna Lucas. Granduated from Central High School. Married Raymond F. Callihan on December 31, 1947; he died February 1, 2008. Employed by John S. Barnes for 17 years. Former member of the Lithuanian Club. Ruth was a generous woman who was a fabulous cook. She was a very good mother and grandmother whose family and family functions meant everything to her. Survivors include her daughter, Rae Anne (Bruce) Oberg; sons, Chuck P. Tunkus and Barb Tunkus, Michael (Melinda) Callihan and Bruce Callihan; grandchildren, Robin Schroeder, Scott and Chris Tunkus, Ryan Callihan and Jessica Callihan; great-grandchildren,Kaitlyn and Danielle Callihan, Sara and Daniel Schroeder, Austin Castro, Abigail and Joshua Tunkus and Ashton Callihan; sister, Josephine Stockwell and numerous nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by her parents; granddaughter, Vicki Lynn Castro; sisters, Stella Paniuski and Anna Siebarth; and brothers, John, Enoch and Stanley Lucas.Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010 in Willwood Burial Park with Rev.
