Ruth E. Phillips

Ruth E. Phillips, 97, Rockford, passed away on Christmas Eve in 2024. She was born on July 10, 1927, the daughter of Joseph and Pauline Younkus in Rockford.

Ruth was known as the life of the party. She held so much love for her family and friends and enjoyed taking care of people. Christmas Eve was her favorite holiday. Her love of helping others was evident by her 20 years of volunteering at Alden Debes, where her generous spirit and commitment to service made a significant impact on those around her.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Paul) Nelson; her sons, Ron Phillips and Scott Phillips; her granddaughter Ella Phillips; her grandson, Scott Nelson; her great grandchildren, Elle Nelson, Phoebe Nelson, Kamryn Nelson, Rowan Nelson and their mother Julie (Ryan Nelson) Hare; her sister-in-law, Helen Abbott; penpal and niece Karen Noegel and numerous other nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Phillips; her parents; and her grandson, Ryan Nelson.
