Ruth L. Kinsman

Ruth L. Kinsman, 102, of Rockford passed away peacefully on January 10, 2024. She was born June 15, 1921, daughter of Ella and Wilbur Goninen of Linden Township in Wisconsin. Ruth married Irving W. Kinsman on August 16, 1938 and they enjoyed almost 69 years together before his passing. They had three children, Keith, Linda and Don, eleven grandchildren, as well as several great/great-great grandchildren.

Ruth and Irving traveled to every state in the union except Connecticut, Rhode Island and Alaska. She was a very active charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Ruth worked one-on-one with adults as a volunteer for the Rockford Literacy Council. She loved to garden and belonged to several garden clubs over the years.

She is survived by son Don (Chris), daughter Linda (Louis) True, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, to many to list. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, son Keith and two grandsons.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 19th at 2:30 with the service at 3:00 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 South Mulford Rd. in Rockford with public visitation at 2:30. Memorial’s may be made in Ruth’s name to Aldersgate Endowment or Education fund, Sinnissippi Rose Garden or Rockford Literacy Council.
