Ruth Jeanette Todd

Ruth Jeanette Todd, 102, Rockford, went home to be with her Lord on November 11, 2017, at Alden Debes Care Center. She was born November 22, 1914, in Oak Park, the daughter of Albert and Matilda (Seivers) Peterson. Ruth married the love of her life, Adam Robert “Bob” Todd on August 21, 1937. He passed away on January 13, 2009. She was a librarian at the Adele Maze Branch of the Oak Park Library where she touched many lives and was active in community organizations. She and Bob moved to Rockford in 1974, to assist in their son’s new company, Todd Transit. Ruth danced her way thru life, first with ballroom dancing and then square dancing. She volunteered reading to the children at Gregory School. Ruth was a former member of Harvard Congregational Church in Oak Park and was a member of Second Congregational United Church of Christ. She was active in the YMCA Retired Women’s Club. She found her joy in her family and when they all gathered at her 100th birthday celebration, she said many times that she had lived a “wonderful life”.
Survived by her son, Richard “Dick” (Linda) Todd of Rockford and her daughter, Judith Reneker Burd of Winona Lake, IN; her grandchildren, Sherry (John), Michael (Mary), Jason (Beth), Randy (Sherri), Rob (Chris), Rick (Kim) and Renee (Sepas); 20 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Peterson. Predeceased by her brother, Richard Peterson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd with Reverend Dick Burkett officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.
