Ruth J. Adams

Ruth J. Adams, 100, Roscoe, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Fair Oaks Rehab and Health Care Center. She was born February 6, 1915, the daughter of Charles and Edith (Johnson) Gerlick. She married Steven Adams and he passed away in September, 2003. Ruth worked in the packing department at Amerock Corp for many years and helped her husband operate the family laundromat. She was a talented cook and baker and enjoyed playing cards. Ruth loved when her grandchildren would take turns spending weekends at their home.
She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Hoffman of Rockford; her grandchildren, Nancy Jenkins, Jack (Vickie) Hoffman, Jill (Jim) Doyle, David (Jamie) Hoffman, Linda (William) Piccirilli, Steven (Marianne), and Brian (Renae) Peters; her great-grandchildren, Abigail (Roy) Sackmaster, Elizabeth Jenkins, Jessica (Michael) St. Angel, Luke (Ashley) Doyle, Courtney, Jake, Edward, and Helen Hoffman, Erin Piccirilli, Joseph (Anna) Piccirilli, Nikki (Richard) Jarrett, Kristi (Jake) Rodenbeck, Steffani (Adam) Hipp, Nicole (Jim) Rose, Kelly (Michael) Henry, Lindsay (Anthony) Savage, and Collin Peters; her great-great grandchildren, Carlo St. Angel, Robert Rose, Marie Piccirilli, Lincoln Hipp, Haley and William Jarrett; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Peters; her 2 sisters, Anna Marie Sanden and Carolyn Salley; her brother, Charles Gerlick. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Fair Oaks for their kindness and excellent care given to Ruth.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Av, Rockford, 61103 with Brother Scott Matthews of Rockford North Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
