Ruth Ann Mcmullen

Ruth Ann (Metz) McMullen, 72, of Rockford, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 5:40 a.m. with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born August 20, 1937 in Naylor, MO., daughter of William C. and Jewel I. (McCord) Metz. Graduate of East High School class of 1955. Married her loving husband, B. Dayle McMullen, October 25, 1957 in Rockford. Worked for Temp Connect with her friend, Linda Olmsted, as an accountant retiring in 1998. Ruth Ann enjoyed taking the time to research her family history and was the "Family Genealogist" . She was a wonderful lady and will be truly missed. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Dayle McMullen of Rockford; sons, Dean E. (Cathy) McMullen of Davis Junction, Shawn L. (Heidi) McMullen of Stillman Valley and Scott A. (Cindy) McMullen of Rockford; grandchildren, Katie (Tristan) Tice, Gayle, Brittany, Erin, Kyle, Amanda McMullen and Kevin Stupka; great grandchildren, Mea McMullen and Liam Tice; brother, Harold "James" (Betty J.) Metz of Rockford and several dear friends. Preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter; Megan McMullen, brothers, Robert E. Metz and Fred (Betty L) Metz; sister, Fern L. Metz Smith. The family would like to extend a special thank you to: Loyola Stem Cell Unit, the doctors and nurses at Swedish American Cancer Center and Northern Illinois Hospice. Memorial Visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2009 followed by a prayer service at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford chapel 1860 S.
