Ruth A. Liskey

Ruth A. Liskey, a longtime resident of Rockford, was reunited with her beloved husband Joseph on January 27, 2017 at the age of 93. Ruth was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a former member of the 2nd Rounders Golf Group. Ruth enjoy playing golf, bridge and traveling the world with her husband. Ruth was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was the daughter of Jacob & Elsie (Wolfskeil) Groening. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph, sisters Helen, Esther, Dorothy, brothers Edward and Frank.
Ruth was especially proud of serving her country during World War II in the SPARS, United States Coast Guard. Ruth was employed by Eclipse until she retired in 1987. Her life will be cherished by her children; Barbra (Roger) of Milwaukee, WI, Margaret (John) Rich of Bettendorf, IA and David Liskey of Rockford. Ruth was a proud grandma to Erin (Lewis) Orchard, Dr. Diana (Dr. Daniel) Pelzer, Ryan, Kevin and Jenna Liskey. Special great grandmother to Lewis and Emily Orchard.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. “B” of Independence Village and the staff at River Bluff Nursing Home for their kindness and support.
Funeral mass will be held 10 AM Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9 AM to time of mass. Burial at Calvary Cemetery.
