Russell Lee Addison, 76, of Rockford died Monday, December 5, 2016 at Alpine Fireside. Born September 8, 1940 in Buchanan, VA., the son of Leland and Hattie Addison. Russell was a United States Veteran serving in the Marine Corps from 1958-1962 in Hawaii and re-enlisted into the Air Force in 1963 at Camp Le June until his retirement in 1980. During his time in the Air Force he was stationed in Japan, Vietnam and Turkey. He then worked for Sundstrand for several years as an Electrical Engineer Rep. Married his wife Connie on Feb. 1, 1992 in San Diego, Ca. Russ enjoyed yard sales and flea markets and couldn’t pass by one without stopping. He was a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America and the Loves Park VFW and Baltic IOV. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the nurses and staff at Alpine Fireside for their compassionate and genuine care.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; brother, Ben Addison; sisters, Jeri Carter, Micki Harrell and Pat Choate; daughter, Christina Addison; step daughter, Amy (Dustin) Campbell, 5 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Charles Weisberg; sisters, Betty Dancy, Jean Lewis and infant daughter and granddaughter, Rhiannon.
Funeral service Friday, Dec. 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL with a visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be held in Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
