Ruby L. Watson

May 1, 1923 — September 22, 2017

Ruby Lorraine Watson was welcomed into heaven by her Lord and loved ones gone before her on Friday, September 22, 2017. Ruby was born May 1, 1923 to Albert and Marie Drager in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She married Nolan Watson on June 21, 1946 and was a loving wife and partner in ministry in the Lutheran churches they served. She had a gift of hospitality and love for faith, family and friends. Ruby was a devoted and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She taught us to be grateful and content, considerate of others; to be helpful and giving. She always put family needs above her own and relished family celebrations.
Ruby is survived by her daughters, Peggy (Joe) Gonzales of San Antonio, and Jane (Bill) Hartmann of Loves Park. She is survived by her grandchildren, Aaron Gonzales of Arden, NC; Ruby (Roland) Polanco of San Antonio; Bill (Erin) Hartmann of Roscoe; Becky (Andrew) Murphy of Caledonia; John (Janey) Hartmann of Elk Grove Village. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Alex and Austin Polanco, Cian and Davin Murphy, and Parker and Makayla Hartmann. She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, one sister, an infant son, and her husband of 66 years, who died in 2012. The family like to express their thanks for the loving care and friendships from Peterson Meadows, Wesley Willows Health Center, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church and Doris Spraggins, who was her caregiver and companion for the last three years.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Ruby Watson will be held at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 2715 S. Mulford Rd, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2017. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Memorial may be given to Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church or to the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Willows.
