Rozella Mae Carey

Rozella Mae Carey, of Rockford, passed away on April 1, 2021 at Cherryvale place Assisted Living Center. Rose was born in Morrisonville, IL on November 15, 1926 to Dorian and Edna (Pearson) Cushman.

Rose married Richard Carey on December 8, 1943 in Reno, Nevada. Dick passed away in 1982.

Rose worked at the Post Office where she retired in 1992. She was a life time member of the Moose Lodge. Rose enjoyed crafts, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, bus trips, shopping, gambling and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rose loved those monthly card parties with the girls.

Rose is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Myrl) Keller, son, Ron (Denise) Carey, Daughther-in-law, Pat Carey; grandchildren, Craig Keller, Mark Carey, Tina Carey Ingram (Michelle Rotert), Matthew (Samantha) Carey; great-grandchildren, Keaton Fulkrod, Frankie and Maddie Ingram, Logan Emerson and Brantley Carey and many numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Richard, parents, Son, Denny, favorite granddaughter, Kristy Keller; brothers, Bob, Chet and John Cushman and sister Blanche Grubb.

Extra special thank you to Pat for allowing Rose to live with her in the home where she raised her children and had fun with all the grandchildren and hosted those monthly card parties.

Thank you to Delores Garman for being that special friend, you were always there for her.

The family would like to thank OSF Hospital, OSF Home Heath Care Staff and the special people at Cherryvale Place for all the extra special attention and care.

Cremation rights have been accorded with a memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family. Funeral arrangements entrusted by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
