Roy David Schmidt

Roy David Schmidt, 76, Rockford, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018. He was born August 30, 1941 in Barnesville, MN, son of Charles and Edna Jennings Schmidt. He graduated from Bemidji High School in 1959. Roy served in the U.S. Marines from 1960-1964. Married Josephine Cialini on July 24, 1965. He worked as an Operating Engineer for Rockford Blacktop for 39 years. Roy was an avid golfer who spent many hours on the course with his friends. He loved the Minnesota Vikings and spending time with his grandchildren.
Roy is survived by his wife, Josephine; daughter, Tammy (Tim) Schneider, Mt. Carroll; son, Todd (Rita) Schmidt, Rockford; six grandchildren, Devon (Dalena) Schneider, Darin (Heather) Schneider, Paige Schneider (Aaron Wies), Alyssa, Zoey and Gabrielle Schmidt; one great-granddaughter, Addison Schneider; brothers, Eddie (Toby) Schmidt, Ray (Jan) Schmidt and Jim Schmidt; sisters, Martha Thompson and Marilyn Johnson. Predeceased by his parents; son, Timothy; brothers, Curt and Duane Schmidt; sisters, Barb Gulden, Elaine Schmidt, Macella Marean and Betty Boyd.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 am -11:30 am on Friday, February 16, 2018 in Heartland Community Church. A memorial service will immediately follow.
