Ross Nicosia

Ross Nicosia, 79, of Rockford, passed away February 24, 2017 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born August 23, 1937 in Sicily, the son of Joseph & Rosa (Santalucia) Nicosia. He moved to Rockford in 1956, coming here from Italy. He worked at Rockford Products for 34 years as a fork lift driver, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Holy Family and past member of Sons of Italy. Ross enjoyed traveling, gardening, but most of all spending time with his beloved children and grandchildren.
Survivors include children, Rosa J. (Mike) Gibson and Rosario J. (Jennifer) Nicosia; grandchildren, Michael M. and Devin R. Gibson, Katrina M. and Joshua J. Nicosia; brother, Domenick (Rose) Nicosia; sister, Providenza “Pat” (Nick) Anastasi; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his beloved companion and best friend, Judith "Judy" McCall; parents; brother, Joseph; sister, Josephine Nicosia; brother-in-law, Dominic Nicosia.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial in Calvary Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 5- 7 pm Friday with a rosary to be recited at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S.
