Ross A. Popham

September 11, 1946 — February 1, 2017

Ross A. Popham, 70, of Rockford, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born September 11, 1946 in Rockford the son of Howard Vincent and Winnifred (Lindgren) Popham. Graduated from East High School and married his loving wife Gayle Attrill on July 25, 1975. Ross was a Territory Manager for Professional Medical Supply, New Lenox, IL, for many years, retiring at age 63. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, enjoyed camping, traveling and working in his yard. Ross was a kind and gentle man and he will be missed greatly by his family and many friends. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Ross’ loving caregiver Robin Andrews as well as Northern Illinois Hospice and their wonderful staff, especially Tonya and LaShanta.
Survivors include his wife, Gayle of Rockford; children, Joseph (Dawn) of Roscoe, Michelle Kiltz of Rockford, Lora (Alan) Smith of Byron, Michael S. (Candace) of Arcadia, WI., and Andrew (Brittany) of Rockford; grandchildren, Stephanie (Millard) Washington, Jacob Popham, , Michael R. Popham, Alyssa McDaniel, Hayley (Bryan) Milan, Jakob Taber, Matthew Keller, Natalie Popham, Katelyn Popham, Elsa Popham and Colton Popham, Cody Smith, Zandra (Joey) Domino and Lanni (Danny) Jones; great grandchildren, Aiden Popham, Alivia Starks and Emilee Washington, brother, Gary Popham of Rockford; sisters, Sandra Baxter of Cherry Valley, Carol Popham of Texas and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughters, Kyra Popham and Sara Keller and brother, Wayne Popham.
Visitation for Ross will be Friday, February 10, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave, Loves Park. Inurnment will be held after Mass at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials in his name to Northern Illinois Hospice.

According to Ross, the lessons he learned in life and the lessons he wanted to share were
“Be forgiving, be patient and be kind”
