Rose Marie A. Lenz

Rose Marie A. Lenz, 78, passed away in Rockford, Illinois on March 1, 2022. Born in Rockford on October 8, 1943 daughter to John and Sarah (Cigretto) Castree. A 1962 graduate of West High School, Rose Marie went on to work for her family’s business, Castree Pacemaker Food Store for over 20 years. In that time she married James Sweeney, had their child Shawn, then Rose Marie and James amicably decided to part ways. She then worked for W.A. Whitney Co. for over 25 years and retired in the early 2000s. Rose Marie had a passion for going to flea markets, thrift stores, estate sales and finding antiques for the booth that she was proud to have at the East State Antique Mall. What Rose Marie loved most though, was her family. Her granddaughters were the light of her life and she will be missed greatly.

She is survived by her son, Shawn (Marj) Sweeney; her granddaughters Victoria and Samantha; her longtime companion Fredrick’s children and grandchildren; her best friend of over 40 years Dianne Kammerer. She is predeceased by her parents; her friend and father to her son, James; her longtime companion Fredrick; her brother Thomas Castree and sister Dottie Saladino.

A Memorial Funeral Service will take place for Rose Marie on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61108.
