Rose J. Mastroianni, 81, Winnebago, died peacefully in her home, on Friday, June 7, 2024. Born June 10, 1942, in Rockford, daughter of Alfred J. and Myrtle E. Doonan Schopf. Graduated from St. Patrick Grade School and was a 1960 graduate of Muldoon High School. Married Gerald F. Mastroianni in St. Patrick Church on April 4, 1964, and had lived in Winnebago since 1975. She retired in 2001 as a secretary from the Rockford Board of Education and was an active member of the Retired Secretaries Association. Member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Pecatonica where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and had been an active member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Patrick Church.
Rose was a gracious lady whose true love in life was her family. She adored her grandchildren and was very supportive of all of their activities. She and Gerry had several groups of long-time treasured friends who they shared many memories with. She enjoyed reading, playing solitaire on her iPad and keeping a close eye on everyone’s well-being.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald; children Jeff (Leslie) Mastroianni, Sioux Falls, SD, Scot (Amy) Mastroianni, Winnebago and Ann Mastroianni, Winnebago; grandchildren, Joseph Mastroianni, Dominic Mastroianni, Ava Mastroianni, Luke (Kim) Beggin, Zach (Billie) Beggin and Emma Kamholz; great-grandchildren, Grace, Elise, Lauren, Isla and Finley; brother, Robert (Pat) Schopf and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, grandson, Dylan Mastroianni and sisters, Agnes Fussenger and Mary Lou Eddy.
Visitation Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 5-7 p.m., in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Pecatonica. A time of visitation will also be held from 10 a.m. until time of the Mass at the church on Friday. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Pecatonica. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northern IL Hospice, American Heart Association or American Cancer Society. Extend condolences and share memories at www.fitzgeraldfh.
