Wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother 'Mamaw', Great-Grandmother, Sister and Aunt

Rosa E. "Peggy" Stone, 74, Loves Park, died Saturday, September 7, 2013 following a valiant battle with brain cancer. She was in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Born April 18, 1939 in Dante, VA, daughter of Luie and Nova (Wallace) Whicker. Married Roy F. Stone in Virgina on October 29, 1954. Peggy lived for her family and more than anything, loved being with them for family gatherings and meals. She was a fabulous cook and always enjoyed shopping trips. Peggy was a faith filled woman who deeply loved the Lord.

Survivors include her husband, Roy; children, Wanda (Lonnie) Presson, Theresa (John) Dotzel, Roy (Sue) Stone, Jr. and Crystal (Rich Cardot) Minihan; grandchildren, Mark, Luke, Rachel, Paige, Courtney, Austin, Olivia, Alyssa and Cameron; great-grandchildren, Amiah and Drew; sisters, Nell Cassell and Brenda Phillips; sister-in-law, Joy Whicker and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, brothers, Bobby Whicker and Dallas "Buddy" Whicker and sister, Linda Dishman. The Stone family would like to thank the staff of Northern Illinois Hospice Association for the compassionate care they gave to Peggy. Special thanks also to a special family friend, Allie Allen, and to their wonderful neighbors, especially Sylvia Staley for the love and support they gave.

Funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013 in Northeast Christian Church with Pastor Sylvia Staley officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Memorials may be made to Northern Illinois Hospice Association, 4215 Newburg Rd.
