Ronald W. Stahl

Ronald W. Stahl, 87, of Rockford, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019 in his home.

Ron was born June 13, 1932 in Chicago, IL, son of Walter and Rita (Hiede) Stahl. He graduated from West High School in Rockford, Class of 1950 and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Rockford College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 and was honorably discharged as a Korean War Veteran. Ron married the love of his life, Patricia A. (Girard) Stahl on January 28, 1956 in Rockford. He and Patricia were members of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Rockford for many years. Ron worked as a plant superintendent at Bergstrom Manufacturing Co. for 25 years before retiring. He was actively involved and a member of the Park-er-Woods Neighborhood Association for many years and also served as past president of the association. Ron helped to co-found and support the “We Care” project in Rockford in the 1970’s which supported the interests of the people on the west side of Rockford. He always showed concern for the community in which he lived and his love of country and patriotism was always strong and evident. Ron loved spending time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Those left to honor Ron’s memory include his son, David (Paula) Stahl of Rockford; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, loving wife, Patricia; daughter, Susan and son, Michael.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Rockford, IL 61103. Celebration of the Mass of Christian burial will be at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2505 School St. Rockford, IL 61101. Burial will conclude at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago, IL. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ron’s name.
