Ronald “Ron” Wallace went to join the angels on February 12, 2022. Born October 25, 1943 to Lloyd and Ethel Wallace in Richland Center, WI. His older brother David was excited to have a younger brother, Ron, and later Ron also welcomed his sister Eileen and youngest brother, Roger. The family moved to Loves Park in the 1950’s. Ron graduated from Harlem High School in 1962. After graduation he worked at Rockford products. In 1963 to 1967, he served our country, stationed in Japan as a parachute packer in the Air Force. After returning to Rockford, Ron worked as a tool and die maker at Rockford Products, then Specialty Screw, as well as Camcar and Sems.
He married Pat on October 14, 1972 at St. Patrick’s church. Soon afterword his father-in-law and brother-in-law introduced him to the game of golf. He enjoyed playing it as much as he could. He was also on several bowling teams during the winter months. Another one of his great enjoyments was to go fishing, especially with his son-in-law Roy Hill and grandsons Ryan and Randy. In recent years, his enjoyments involved books, Scrabble, Playing dice on Friday nights with Eileen and Mel, going to casinos, and watching the White Sox and the Packers win games.
Survivors include his wife Pat, children Kimberly Hill and Kevin Wallace; grandsons Ryan and Randy Hill; brothers David Wallace and Roger (Pilar) Wallace; sister Eileen (Mel) Bores; sisters-in-law Ginny Forrest, Dorothy Sandven and Betty (Jon) Hart; brother-in-law Tom Hooper, numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Lloyd & Ethel Wallace, his in-laws, Elizabeth & Lester Hooper, son-in-law Roy Hill; brothers-in-law, Robert Hooper, Phil Forrest, Roger Sandven, Doug Petit, Pete Ferguson, Vic Tewes, sisters-in-law Marilyn Wallace, Rosemary Tewes and Bonnie Hooper.
A visitation will take place for Ron on Sunday, February 20, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Road, Rockford, Illinois, 61103. Visitation will continue on Monday, February 21, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave, Loves Park, Illinois 61111.
