Ronald "Ron" R. Heidenreich

Ronald R Heidenreich, 86, of Rockford and formerly Rochelle, passed away Saturday, December 17th, in the comforts of his home. Ron was the son of Ralph Heidenreich and Irene Dietrich Borneman. Ron proudly served in the U.S. Navy and Air Force. He worked for Rochelle Municipal Utilities for 32 years. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eleanor, daughter Jill Torre and her fiancé John Turner, granddaughters Jillian (Mitch) Myers and Carly (Dan) Torre-Brown, great grandson Malcolm Myers, brothers Bob (Karen) Borneman and Bill (Patti) Borneman along with many special nieces and nephews and friends.

Ron was a car enthusiast. He and Eleanor loved driving through car lots looking for their next one! This year Ron and Eleanor celebrated 61 years of marriage and he was so proud of this. Anytime you’d see the two out and about they were always holding hands. Ron was also known for his infectious laugh that was contagious. The family enjoyed going to movies and Ron was always the highlight of the previews with his laughing at the funny scenes. Ron’s granddaughters held a special place in his heart as did his great grandson. Ron also enjoyed the three dachshunds he and Ellie had over the years and his four grand dogs that they would stop and see regularly. He loved sitting on the backyard deck with “the pack”, throwing the frisbee, brushing them and giving them treats!

Ron is predeceased by his parents; mother-in-law, Bernadine Blum; brother Larry Heidenreich; sister-in-law, Dana Heidenreich; and special son-in-law Jude Torre.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27th, 2022, from 10:00 am  – 12:00 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108 with a service to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Rita’s church, Rockford Rescue Mission or charity of choice.
