Ronald J. Resac, 76, passed away in Rockford, IL on March 23, 2022. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on October 25, 1945 son to Carl and Mildred (Meade) Resac. Growing up, Ron learned to work with his hands and problem solve while helping his father on construction sites and working on cars with his brothers. He was extremely proud of being the first in his family to graduate from college, and received his diploma from Indiana Institute of Technology in 1968.
In the fall of 1969, he began dating the love of his life, Patricia Dunn, who he had known since childhood. In the summer of 1970 they married and shared 16 wonderful years of marriage until she passed away in January of 1986. In 1974 they moved to Rockford so Ron could start work at Sundstrand Corporation, where he ultimately retired in 2004. After arriving, they became parishioners at the Cathedral of Saint Peter and helped the church to open their preschool.
Ron owned countless vehicles during his life and loved the open road. He loved taking trips with his friends and his greatest adventure was a long motorcycle trip around the Western United States. When he wasn’t driving, Ron really enjoyed golf. He often recounted his trip to Scotland to play in the birthplace of golf with his children. Along with Patti, he extensively remodeled both homes they owned in Rockford. He really enjoyed tools and was fascinated with woodworking.
Ron was a devoted father and proud grandfather. His greatest joy after retirement was spending time with his family. He was amazed by his four grandchildren and was always quick to share stories of them with his friends. Ron will be missed by his two sons, Brian (Melissa) Resac and David (Maureen) Resac; his grandchildren Caitlin and Brayden (David), Matthew and Abigail (Brian); his brother Richard (Dawn) Resac; sister-in-law Patricia Resac; nieces and nephews and so many beloved friends. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia; parents Carl and Mildred; and his brothers Raymond and Rodney Resac.
